How to improve your freestyle dance Fast

movement

How can you improve your freestyle dance fast, really fast?

Alright. Before diving into the content, I want to ensure my message is understood. You can improve your freestyle dance fast. And yes. By using this approach, you're going to be able to improve faster. But keep in mind that dancing It's not a sprint. It's a marathon.

So it takes time. So do not expect that just because you're going to start working on this technique, then two months later, you will be the best dancer in the world. It doesn't work this way; no matter what you're learning, it will require time to practice it.

To understand it and actually live it.

I wanted to make sure that you understand that first because I'm not here to sell you dreams. But with this approach, you can definitely improve faster. Okay. So let's dive into the content.

So if you want to improve faster as a freestyle dancer, the first step is to spend a lot of time studying your dance.

In my opinion, there are two types of freestyle dancers, organic dancers and technical dancers. Now bear in mind a technical dancer can be a really good organic dancer, and an organic dancer can also be a great technical dancer.

I'm not putting anyone in a box; everyone can be good at both. But usually, you have a natural way of moving; there's something that comes much more naturally to you. For some dancers, the technical side is their natural, and for others, the organic side is their natural.

So what is the difference between an organic and a technical dancer?

The organic dancers will focus much more on the feeling, the groove, and the instinct. And the technical dancer will mainly focus on the look of the movement. How clean are they? The aesthetic of the moves. Also, focus a lot on symmetries and stuff like that.

Which dance type is better?

There is nothing wrong with both of them. Ideally, you want to be good at both over time, but to be good at both, you truly need to identify which one comes naturally to you. When you started dancing, which one came naturally to you? The moment you understand that, this will save you time and energy.

So how will you know if you are more of an organic dancer or a technical one?

One exercise I like to share whenever I teach is that you will do something straightforward. You're going to put on the music, and then you're going to focus on dancing with your arms.

And the first step is to try to be very organic with your arms. So you're not trying to think about structure or symmetry and stuff like that. Just let your arms move and play with your arms to see what you can come up with.

Do that for the entire music, if you can. I will show you a quick example of how I use my arms organically. And then, I'm going to explain to you the next step. So check this out, and I'll see you after that.

( Watch the video above to see the example )

I wanted to give you an idea of how you can use your arms organically without thinking about structure and symmetry. Okay.

And ask yourself if it was natural to you.

Now, the second step is that you're going to do the opposite.

You're going to start moving your arms. You're going to put the music, the same song, and then you start dancing again. But this time, you want to think more about symmetry. You want to think more structured. So the more technical side of dancing.

Once again, I'm going to show you a quick example to show you what I'm talking about when I say the technical side and see you right after that to give you the next step.

So once you do this, ask yourself when you feel most comfortable. And chances are, in one part, you're going to feel that, okay. I felt more natural doing the organic side or the technical side.

We are identifying which ones come to you naturally first because this will help you progress much faster because you're not overwhelmed by going from one category to another. I can guarantee you it's two different ways of moving.

So therefore, if your natural way of moving is organic, then now you identified your natural way of moving as organic.

Therefore, when training, I want to focus on my natural way of moving. Now, if I want to get better at the technical side of dancing, I still want to keep my natural way of moving but add to it this technical side. So I'm not leaving my natural way of moving.

And now, because people say, okay, I'm not technical enough, I need to learn the technical aspect of dancing.

Do not do that because you're going to waste a lot of time and get confused. Instead, you focus on your natural way of moving and add to it, but you only step partially on the other side.

And now, gradually, you understand better how you are moving and can naturally integrate the technical aspect of dancing in your organic style. And they combine very smoothly and easily.

These are mistakes that I made when I started as a freestyle dancer, and people began to say, okay, Oh, Nickel, you've got a nice groove and have an excellent organic way of moving. But, the technical side is not as strong as your organic side. And I didn't know that. So I started to analyze people who are good at structure and stuff like that, try to do the same thing as them, and forget about my natural way of moving, which creates confusion.

I was overwhelmed for quite some time. And then I had to remind myself if that made sense.

What I'm saying to you guys can help you avoid this mistake to remain focused and progress much faster as a freestyle dancer. Do you see what I mean?

And for some of you who are advanced dancers, you may already know if you are more of a technical or organic dancer when watching this. If it's the case and you already know that. Just keep in mind that, all right. I need to focus on my natural way of moving.

My goal is to spend a lot of time studying myself regularly to keep my natural way of moving, even when adding more information. Does that make sense? So yeah. That's what you need to keep in mind, guys. And when you do that, you will avoid many distractions and remain focused on your path to progress much faster.
